Bird Island Relaxation

Bird Island is a quiet, passive park that is perfect for a slow contemplative stroll as you take in the range of ecosystems of northeast Florida and its native flora and fauna. Its level grades make it easy to get a little exercise without a lot of exertion and there is a boardwalk that surrounds the pond, with Bird Island in the center. The mix of benches and gazebos interspersed in the park offers a range of options to sit, relax and consider ways that your getaway can help add to your wellness. There is also a hedged sea turtle maze that can add some fun to your stroll, while again offering a mix of benches to sit, take in the beauty and take time for yourself.

Reading a meaningful book is a great way to deepen your contemplative state and it is easy to download any number of options on your favorite device and start your read at the right spot. The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is neighbors with Bird Island and if you want to extend your visit and stroll the library shelves to get new ideas it’s right there.

As the name implies, there is often lots of wildlife to gaze at while you enjoy the park. Turtles can often be seen in the center waters and keep your eye on the mix of trees in the middle on the island, they often have a wide range of birds relaxing in their limbs. Also, be sure to take time to read the many identity markers to learn more about the range of vegetation that is so prevalent in the park.

Bird Island Park is located right off A1A, the park is easy to find and there is ample parking as it is neighbors with the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch library.
